Divertimento in E flat by Haydn, string quartet transcription for saxophone quartet. Divertimento in E Flat was written a few years after Joseph Haydn began his long employment with the Esterhazy family. In some catalogs (but not all) it is referred to as String Quartet 0 or even Opus 1, No. 1. Regardless of its designation, it is a pleasant set of little pieces and an excellent example of an early Classical period divertimento. The work is in five movements:

1. Allegro
2. Minuet 1
3. Adagio Cantabile
4. Minuet 2
5. Rondo

This string quartet transcription for saxophone quartet SATB of this work contains all five movements of the Haydn composition. It is complete and in the original keys. As shown below, this piece requires a wide range from each saxophone.
