Adagio and Allegro – HWV 363b by Georg Frideric Handel arranged for Alto or Baritone Sax Solo with Piano. This is the first two movements of an oboe/flute sonata Handel published in 1716.

With this arrangement of Adagio and Allegro you get:

All dynamics and articulations in this arrangement are editorial. None were included in the original composition. The original flute sonata is in G major. This arrangement of Adagio and Allegro – HWV 363b is for alto/bari sax is transposed to B flat major. Both movements are in common time. The adagio moves at a slow, graceful pace with a lyrical melody. The Allegro is more demanding due to its many scale passages in 16th notes. Even so, it sits well on the sax and with a little metronome practice, is attainable for a 3rd or 4th year student.

About the Composer
