Variations on La ci darem la Mano, WoO. 28, (1795)

Ludwig van Beethoven, (1770- 1827)

SAT or  SAB Saxophone Trio

Variations on La ci darem la Mano WoO 28 by Beethoven, arranged for SAT or SAB saxophone trio. This set of variations was originally composed for two oboes and English horn. This arrangement is for saxophone trio: soprano, alto, and tenor or baritone. The eight variations are based on the famous aria “La ci darem la Mano” from Mozart’s opera, “Don Giovanni”. Although written in 1795, it was not published until 1915. This relatively early work is full of cheery good humor.

This saxophone trio arrangement of Variations on La ci darem la Mano, WoO. 28 is in the original key of C except for variations 2 which has been transposed into the key of A flat. The soprano sax part is more demanding but the alto and tenor/bari sax parts have their moments in the spotlight as well. No altissimo is required but all the parts require a good deal of flexibility and technique.

With this arrangement you receive:

  • Sax trio score The bari sax part (tenor double) is not shown in the score.
  • Soprano Sax
  • Alto Sax
  • Tenor Sax
  • Baritone Sax (Double for tenor sax)

The range for each saxophone part is shown below.
