Menuetto from String Quintet Op. 11, No. 5
Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805)
SATB Saxophone Quartet
Menuetto from the String Quintet in E, Op. 11, No. 5 by Boccherini, arranged for Saxophone Quartet SATB. This is Luigi Boccherini’s best known work. Neglected after his death, his works have been gained more recognition since the late 20th century, in print, record, and concert hall This piece has been transcribed for many ensembles and used in several films, most notably The Ladykillers of 1955 and in The Blues Brothers (the restaurant scene). It is often used any time “classy” background music is needed.
This arrangement for SATB saxophone quartet of Boccherini’s celebrated Menuet has been transposed from its original key of A major to A flat major. It makes moderate demands on the players.
