Caprice by Franz Vecsey, arranged for any saxophone solo. This little showpiece was written for violin and piano by the early 20th century Hungarian violin virtuoso Franz Vecsey. He was a child prodigy and later became one of the pre-eminent violinists in Europe in the 1910’s and ’20’s. He composed many virtuoso pieces for violin. This is one of his first published works.

Caprice was composed in the key of F sharp. This arrangement is for any saxophone solo and has been transposed down a semi-tone to the key of F. It includes solo parts for soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. No matter which saxophone you play it on, it is a workout: the first and last sections of the piece feature repeated notes and rapid arpeggios. A more lyrical middle section separates the two. The pitch range for each saxophone part is shown below. Although there are several reaches into the altissimo range, alternative notes are provided in the parts.
