Minuet, D. 334
Franz Schubert (1797 – 1828)
SATB Saxophone Quartet
Minuet D334 by Franz Schubert, arranged for saxophone quartet SATB. This short dance in 3/4 time is a typical classical minuet and trio. It has a lyrical melody and a gently rhythmic accompaniment. There are no extreme technical challenges. All the parts are of about the same difficulty. Originally composed for the piano in the key of A major, this arrangement has been scored for Saxophone quartet SATB and transposed to the key of A flat major.
Although Schubert is well known for his songs, he wrote nearly as many dances (more than 500). Schubert is one of the leading exponents of the early Romantic era in music. He is one of the most frequently performed composers today.
